Reduced To Rubble

I've calmed down a lot since my last blog post. Sorry I freaked out like I did, but I had never seen a trailer, especially a relative of mine, get torn apart like that. Gary had a long talk with me, and explained that sometimes there is no easy fix when a trailer is in as bad of condition as Scotty was. There was no other way to make Scotty like new other than to start from scratch. So, that's the plan. Now that I have a better understanding of what's going on, I'm fine with it. The old Scotty is no more. Today, Gary got busy on cutting up all of Scotty's old body parts. He is keeping the walls and floor for patterns and possible reference if needed. Gary likes the pattern of Scotty's old linoleum floor, and he plans to use a little of it for some purpose in the "new" Scotty. Everything else got cut into small enough pieces to fit into the garbage cans. It still wasn't pleasant watching Gary do what had to be done, but I know everything will turn out for the best. As you can see, Scotty is now just a pile of rotted wood in a stack. Gary has determined that Scotty's frame rails have a bit of a bow in them, so it looks like they will need some work that Gary hadn't planned on. It's always something. I'm sure happy that I didn't have all the problems that Scotty has, or I might have ended up in the junkyard or even worse, having my skeleton (frame) ripped right out of me. YIKES!!! But Gary was loyal to me, and I know he will be the same way with Scotty. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Trauma In The Green Acres Garage

This will be a day I will never forget. Scary doesn't even begin to describe what I witnessed today, as Gary literally removed Scotty's skeleton right out of his body. I call it a skeleton, and most people would call it a frame, but whatever you call it, it was HORRIBLE to watch. My poor brother! I guess I REALLY underestimated what all is involved when a trailer gets a total rebuild. I knew Scotty was in MUCH worse shape than I was, but I was somehow thinking that a little extra woodworking and paint, and Scotty would be as good as new. WRONG!!! Gary assures me that everything will be fine. I sure hope so. It appears that Gary will be building an all new body on Scotty's skeleton. That will be nice, and if Scotty is in pain now, he won't be when he's fresh and new again. I wish I hadn't seen what I saw. Even worse, I'm stuck here behind Scotty's remains and I have to constantly be reminded of today's happenings. What will happen to the old Scotty? Will the new Scotty still be Scotty? Will Gary like the new Scotty more than me? It's all too much to think about. I've got to get some happy thoughts in my head, put my blinders on, and try to move on. This has NOT been a fun day.

What's Up, Scotty?

There's been a lot of activity in the Green Acres Garage lately, but not much of it has involved me. Gary has spent many days building wood storage racks for the 12x20 utility shed. As usual, I just sit back and relax as I watch him thrashing away. I am happy to report that there have been a few nights that have been cool enough for Gary to garage camp in me, and I'm thankful for that. With the wood storage racks built and put in place inside the shed, the first thing Gary wanted to do was empty all of those wood scraps out of my brother Scotty. Poor Scotty has been used as a rolling wood storage rack for over a year. He was so overloaded that his bumper was just a few inches from the ground. Early today, my other brother (Henry the Hilander) and I, watched as Gary pulled Scotty out of the garage and across the yard to the shed. A couple of hours later, Scotty was back. He was empty and looked very relieved to have all that junk out of him. Next thing I knew, Scotty's bumper was touching the floor. It wasn't because Gary had overloaded him again, but because his front end was jacked all the way up as high as it would go. With a floor jack and other supports in place, Gary began crawling around on the floor under Scotty, cutting off all of his body mount bolts. Something BIG is about to happen to Scotty, and I hope it's good. I'm just glad it's happening to him and not me!

All Good Things Must End

Big happenings here over the last few days. First, after 122 nights of sleeping in me, the Florida heat is getting to be too much for Gary, and he is now sleeping in the house again. I'm sad and I'm lonely, but I understand. It sure was fun spending so much time with Gary, and he promises that we'll be together again as soon as the cooler nights of fall arrive. During the summer, I know there's some improvements that need to be made to me, so I'll be seeing Gary often. He took me outside and gave me a bath yesterday, and that was nice. There are plans in the near future for Gary to begin a full rebuild of my brother Scotty. Scotty got to come outside with me for awhile yesterday. As you can see, he is in in terrible condition. Gary has been using Scotty for wood storage. But now that the big utility shed is built, all of that wood will go in the shed, and Scotty will be ready to be dismantled. While Scotty and I were spending some time in the Florida sun, our other brother, Henry the Hilander, got turned around and moved to the spot where Scotty used to be. Then I got rolled back into the garage next to Henry. I've been in the middle and front of the garage before, but never all the way in the back. I now know for sure that I won't be going anywhere for awhile. It's kind of quiet back here, and I'm away from the dangers of getting hit or scratched by the things that were constantly being moved around me. So, no complaints from me. Gary brought Scotty back in, and now he's in the middle of the garage where I used to be. Gary will have easy access to him as he begins the long process of a total frame-up rebuild. And I have a front (well actually rear) row seat to watch what happens.

Giving Me The Business (cards, that is)

Everytime that Gary and I go somewhere, people are asking about me or my blog, if we're on Facebook, how to contact us, etc. Hardly anybody carries around a pen and a piece of paper with them to write down the information, so Gary decided to create these cool little business cards for me. I LOVE them! The poor scan quality doesn't do them justice, but at least this will give you an idea of what the front and back of the cards look like. We'll be sure to have some of the cards with us wherever we go, so be sure to ask for one or two if we don't offer them to you first. And if you'd like us to send you a few, you can see by the attached picture how to contact us for some. My tongue isn't too good at licking stamps, but Gary won't mind using his to lick a few. In other news, my humble little blog has now been seen by fans in 21 countries around the world, as well as right here in the good ol' U.S.A. I can't even begin to express how grateful I am that all of my fans continue to log on and enjoy my ramblings. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Please tell your friends about me, log in often, and I'll try my best to keep you coming back for more. I LOVE YOU ALL!!! Your Camping Pal, TOASTER
