It's another smoking hot Florida summer. I HATE this time of year, and so does my buddy Gary. He has it worse than I do, because he has to work in this misery. I just sit around and do nothing, but it's still unbelievably uncomfortable, even for a little aluminum guy like myself. Oh how we long for the fall and winter. Bring it on! Just to make matters worse this week, my old General Electric air conditioner died unexpectedly. It was seven years and four months old, and it has run all day and all night for about ten months out of every year. I'd say that was a very good $150 investment. Gary had purchased a smaller and cheaper Haier air conditioner earlier this year, to use on a couple of camping trips in his cargo van, Casper. It was just sitting here not being used, so with a few modifications to the mounting panel that fits into my window opening, the smaller air conditioner was installed and is keeping Gary and I nice and cool. From Wal-Mart.com, Gary ordered a brand new General Electric air conditioner just like my old one. It was here in two days! We had such good luck with the original one, that we wanted another one just like it. It has more cooling capacity than the one we borrowed from Casper, and even has a remote control! We will get some use out of the smaller air conditioner for now, and Gary will install the new one at a later date. He's planning on building a nicer looking mounting panel for the new one. The original one was made from scrap materials. As long as he paints it red (my favorite color), I'll be happy. In other news, Gary has spent nearly a month now clearing overgrowth from the property lines here at Green Acres, in preparation for the installation of a six foot fence around all four sides of the yard. The clearing has been a MAJOR job, but he's almost done. There really hasn't been much else going on around here. We're just suffering through the hot and humid days, knowing that camping and cooler days are getting closer all the time. I hope that everybody out there is doing well. Stay cool!
